Despite a rather stumped release, Omerta: City of Gangsters continues to refine its mafia game with another free update that changes how the game works. Publisher Kalypso Media released a gameplay trailer to show how the title will try to win its audience back.

Most importantly, other gangs join sandbox mode, which are an active part of gameplay, as they can attack players and take over their buildings. More sandbox maps are offered as well and objectives can be set. The user interface has been altered and now also displays business efficiency and so on. Buildings receive tactical icons on the mini-map. Mobsters can now drive around in old timey cars, hopefully getting to destinations quicker.
Most importantly, multiplayer has been rebalanced and combat mechanisms have been altered. According to the press release, cover systems have been severely adjusted. There are also more multiplayer maps and a chat function has been introduced.
Despite working with the makers of the Tropico series, Omerta: City of Gangsters only accrued a 54 Metacritic rating with many publications addressing the empty feeling of the simulator.
